N.O.I.C. – Gamma Knife Extraction

Chicago, IL

Scope of work for this project located at the Neurologic and Orthopedic Institute of Chicago included pre-survey of existing conditions prior to relocation and the eventual safe removal of this equipment from the existing basement where it was shipped back to the manufacturer for re calibration and re-sale. SCG’s logistical coordination included the U.S. Department of Homeland Security as well as the City of Chicago.

In a very short time frame, Synergy Construction Group led the project team through design/permit to satisfy the Department of Homeland Securities concerns related to the radioactive material housed inside of the Gamma Knife equipment. Synergy worked through winter to excavate the areas adjacent to the existing facility, cutting a temporary 8’ x 8’ hole in the concrete foundation wall to facilitate extraction of the equipment. At the conclusion of the equipment relocation, the site and building were restored and client was thoroughly pleased.
