Synergy Construction Group successfully transformed a former hotel property into a modern 70-unit assisted living community, demonstrating the power of adaptive reuse to create high-quality senior living environments. This complex renovation reimagined an aging hospitality asset into a welcoming residential setting designed to support resident comfort, safety, and quality of life. Leveraging extensive experience in healthcare and multifamily construction, Synergy executed the project with precision while navigating the unique challenges of converting an occupied commercial building into a code-compliant senior living facility.
The comprehensive renovation included full unit rehabilitations featuring new cabinetry, updated living spaces, modern kitchenettes, upgraded HVAC systems, enhanced electrical infrastructure, new unit entry doors, and a fully addressable fire alarm system. Significant life safety improvements, including the installation of a code-compliant sprinkler system, helped modernize the facility while meeting current regulatory requirements. Partially funded through the Illinois Housing Development Authority (IHDA), the project required close collaboration among ownership, design teams, government agencies, and trade partners to successfully deliver a high-quality community for seniors. The completed development showcases Synergy’s expertise in adaptive reuse, occupied renovations, and senior housing construction, creating lasting value for residents while extending the life and purpose of an existing property.
